National Family Week

National Family Week is a new national initiative to celebrate family life in the UK. The inaugural week took place from 25th to 31st May 2009.

This important new occasion celebrated and promoted the social and personal benefits of family life in all shapes and sizes. During the week numerous fun activities and events for families took place across the UK run by schools, charities, youth groups, shopping centres, community groups, local authorities and National Family Week’s commercial partners. Extensive media coverage in newspapers, magazines, on TV and online, as well as high profile competitions and large-scale events engaged with family members of all ages.

The tone of the week was celebratory, focusing on the pleasure of being part of a family and the fun families can have together.
